Sadly, there are people in very bad medical conditions who want to die.
They are in pain, they are suffering, and they no longer find their quality
of life to be at an acceptable level anymore. When people like this are
kept alive by machines or other medical treatments, can it be morally
permissible to let them die? Advocates of “passive euthanasia” argue that
it can be. Their reasons, however, suggest that it can sometimes be not
wrong to actively kill some patients, i.e., that “active euthanasia” can be
permissible also. This essay reviews these arguments.

general ethical propositions that transcend the domain that medical ethics

OBJECTIVE: This study sought to assess Canadian pregnant women's and their
partners' preferences for information about non-invasive prenatal testing
(NIPT). METHODS: Pregnant women and their partners across Canada were
surveyed as part of the Personalized Genomics for prenatal Aneuploidy
Screening Using maternal blood (PEGASUS) study. RESULTS: A total of 882

This paper compares the reasoning and the outcome of quasi-identical
landmark constitutional cases in the United States and Brazil concerning
basic rights according to the progressive agenda. US Supreme court
historical jurisprudence - concerning abortion, affirmative action and
same-sex marriage - is considered as the standard for comparison with the

Should a person who feels his legal age does not correspond with his
experienced age be allowed to change his legal age? In this paper, I argue
that in some cases people should be allowed to change their legal age. Such
cases would be when: 1) the person genuinely feels his age differs
significantly from his chronological age and 2) the person’s biological age
is recognized to be significantly different from his chronological age and
3) age change would likely prevent, stop or reduce ageism, discrimination
