 Hola lista!!...

Nada mas les mando eso para que lo lean!!...se ve interesante!

 Hi people!

         All you advanced PERL-programmers listen!
I think I got good news for you:

Have you ever thought of using PERL somewhere else than on a webserver?
Well, I have, and the result is quite amazing.

A driving school here in Stade(Germany) wanted to have a new
database-system to print different reports, list of students, invoices, etc.

Someone tried to write a program in MSAccess, but when he presented it
it was so hard in use that the driving school didn't want to have it.

So they asked me if I could figure out something useful. A DOS-base
pascal-program was certainly the wrong idea, so I suggested to rewrite the
program in PERL.

The big advantage is that you can use Netscape as a browser for your
program. All elements such as buttons, scroll-down-menus, radio-buttons,
etc. are implemented - as e.g. in VB and you can easily use images,
background-music -well, I think you know all the nice features of netscape
(however, I didn't use multimedial effects in this program :o()

It's very easy to write a good-looking and easy-to-use program in PERL.
If you want to test my (german) version of the program, go here:

 http://www.city-map.de/cgi-files/main.cgi

                       Login: Henke Passwd: 12345

Furthermore, this program can then not only be used in the driving school,
but the owner can install this program on an intranet - or even on the
internet. So he has access to the same files at home and at school.
I don't know ifit is as easy to write a VB-, Delphi- or c++-program that
supports networking as easily as PERL does.

Well, I yesterday installed the program on his local machine, without any
network-connection, a Win95 IBM PC 486DX 20MB, but he thought it was too
slow. I sold him a new mainboard and a new Intel P133 and now it works well
*smile* If you have any questions on installing a PERL script on astand-alone
PC, write back.

It took me four days to write this database - without using any routines
or libraries.

 BYE for 2day,

Henrik Steffen

      Uses some nice JavaScripts!
      But still under construction.
