[Pgsql-ayuda] Ayuda para instalar posgresql

Hola a todos
Estoy tratando de instalar postgres en mi maquina debian  linux 3.0 . Cree la cuenta de el superusuario postgres y los directorios correspodiente de instalacion   pero la momento de  ejetutar lo siguiente
 
./configure --prefix=/usr/local/pgsql --with-perl --with-odbc --enable-locale   
sale el siguiente mensaje

y ahi ya no puedo continuar por este error configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables 
alguien me puede ayudar
